One-on-one tutoring starts at $95 per hour with a Professional Tutor - $95 for Years 3-6, $102 for Years 7-10 and $115 for Years 11-12. Rates rise with the tutor tier, up to $156 an hour for an Expert Tutor or Proficient Teacher in Years 11-12, so most families are choosing between $95 and $156. Every rate is on the table above, with no hidden fees.
A Professional Tutor suits most students and is where the majority of families start, from $95 an hour. A Specialist Tutor or Provisional Teacher has at least 5 years of tutoring and over 2,500 one-on-one lesson hours, provisional teaching accreditation, or a relevant degree, from $121. An Expert Tutor or Proficient Teacher has at least 10 years of tutoring and over 5,000 one-on-one lesson hours, or Proficient Teacher accreditation, from $136. Which tier suits your child is something we talk through when we call you - most families start with a Professional Tutor.
No. Pricing is the same across all of our academies - Belrose, Brookvale, Forestville, Mona Vale and Gordon - and online and in-home lessons are charged at the same hourly rate as lessons at an academy, with nothing added for travel.
No, they are the same price. We charge one hourly rate for online, in-home and in-academy one-on-one lessons, so you can switch format from one week to the next without your rate changing.
No. There is no enrolment fee, no service fee and no surcharge for online or in-home lessons - the hourly rate is the price of the lesson, and it is the same wherever the lesson happens. The only other charges are ones you control, and they are all set out in the Billing, Payments & Refunds policy: a late cancellation or no-show is charged under the cancellation policy; an overdue account attracts a $10 late fee after 10 days, capped at $30; and if a card or direct debit payment fails, any bank or processing fee charged to BTA may be passed on. Paying by card, PayID or direct debit costs nothing extra.

Why we publish
We give a lot of it away
Our tutors write for their own lessons: a breakdown of a set text, a maths paper pitched at one year group, the explanation that finally landed with a student on a Tuesday afternoon. Rather than leave that in a folder at one academy, we publish it.
The English half is free and has been for years: more than 250 guides, most of them for the HSC, and you do not have to be a BTA student to open one. No account, no email address, no payment.
It is not a sideline either. These are the same pages our tutors build lessons from, which is why they are specific about a text or a module rather than general advice about how to study.
