We understand the difficulties students face when it comes to learning, studying and sitting examinations. Our one-on-one tutoring methods were built around that, and have been refined since 2015 across more than 10,000 students.
More than 80 experienced tutors teach across eight academies in five locations - Belrose, Brookvale, Forestville, Mona Vale and Gordon. Every academy runs the same programmes, the same three tutor tiers and the same rates, so the one you choose is the one that fits your week.
Not near any of them? Lessons also run online through Microsoft Teams, and in your home within our travel radius, at no extra cost.

Why be restricted by location? Families move between the three formats all the time - in-academy through term, online over the holidays, in-home in the fortnight before trials - and the tutor, the tier and the rate stay exactly the same when they do.

- A private room at one of the eight academies, with the textbooks and past papers on the shelf and nothing else going on around your child. Most families start here - the five locations are listed below.
- Online
- The same lesson through Microsoft Teams. The tutor writes on a shared board as they teach, and the notes and boards come through afterwards to revise from. No extra cost.
- In your home
- A tutor travels to you, within our travel radius and pending availability, at no extra cost. Useful when the school run and the lesson will not fit in the same afternoon.

BTA Belrose

In the Belrose Village Shops on Ralston Avenue, straight across the road from Belrose Public School and in the same building as IGA Belrose. Several bus routes run along Ralston Avenue.
BTA Brookvale

Visit BTA BrookvaleOne academy on the first floor of Marvic House, above the MoneyTax Financial Centre. Private one-on-one rooms, the current teaching tech, and hard and soft copies of the set texts and workbooks the local schools use.
On Pittwater Road at the corner of Sydenham Road, a short walk from Warringah Mall. Bus stops sit directly opposite the building, which makes this the easiest of the eight academies to reach without a car.
BTA Forestville

BTA Gordon

Visit BTA GordonOne academy on the first floor, opened in 2024 - the newest of the eight and the only one off the Northern Beaches. It was set up for the work North Shore families actually ask for: selective entry, competitive school assessment, and HSC Maths and English.
At 25 Wade Lane, next door to McDonald's and opposite the Wade Lane car park, in the heart of the Gordon shops. A short walk from Gordon station on the North Shore line.
BTA Mona Vale

Visit BTA Mona ValeOne academy, open since 2021 and now in Suite 1.1 at 9 Waratah Street. Every tutoring station runs a 27-inch monitor, so past papers and worked examples go up on screen where tutor and student can both see them.
Next door to the Gateway Medical Centre on Mona Vale Road, where the academy used to be. Free parking in the medical centre's car park (2, 8 or 10 hours, depending on the level), or on the street in front of the building.

Northern Beaches Coworking
All five of our premises also house coworking spaces, run by the same people who run the academies. 58 hot desks across the five, each with a 27 inch monitor and an ergonomic chair, and free local parking at all of them.
The coworking space is separate from our tutoring rooms. Weekday coworking finishes at 3pm, before lessons begin, and daytime homeschool lessons are held in offices where no coworking takes place.

Online lessons
The same lesson, online
Unable to get to an academy? An online lesson is the same one-on-one lesson, run through Microsoft Teams. Same tutor, same tier, same rate - the only thing that changes is that nobody has to drive.
The tutor works on a shared board while they teach, so your child watches the working appear rather than listening to it described, and can stop the lesson to ask. Afterwards the notes and boards come through to revise from.
Plenty of our families use it alongside in-academy lessons rather than instead of them, and switch between the two as the term demands.
Getting in
Academies designed with care
Accessibility should never get in the way of the work. Our academies are built to be as inclusive as we can make them. If stairs are a problem:
- Belrose - the two downstairs suites are wheelchair accessible, and parking is free in the shopping centre car park a few steps from the door.
- Mona Vale - there are stairs up to the academy, and a lift as well. Free parking next door in the Gateway Medical Centre car park, or on the street in front of the building.

Frequently Asked Questions
Choose the academy closest to home or school, most families pick one that fits naturally into the school run. All eight academies offer the same one-on-one Maths and English tutoring for Years 3-12. If you are unsure, contact us and a Student Success Manager will help you find the best fit.
Yes. Some students split lessons across academies, for example, attending Belrose on Mondays and Forestville on Thursdays. Our Operations team manages this seamlessly, and all progress notes travel with your child regardless of which academy they attend.
Yes. Every BTA academy provides one-on-one tutoring in Maths and English for Years 3-12, including HSC preparation and Selective School Test coaching. Specialist support for neurodiverse learners; ADHD, dyslexia, and ASD is available at all locations.
Absolutely. Families move between academies regularly. Whether you have moved house, changed schools, or simply want a different location. Let your Student Success Manager know and the transfer is arranged within a few days, with no disruption to your child's lessons.
At every BTA academy, lessons run Mon-Fri 3pm-9pm, Sat 8am-2pm (closed Sunday). Within those hours, lesson times are flexible and can be arranged around school timetables, sport, and family schedules. Contact us to check current availability.

Each academy has its own dedicated team of tutors, matched to students based on year level, subject, and learning style. If a particular expertise is needed, BTA can also arrange online sessions to connect your child with the best available match across the network.
BTA also offers fully online tutoring via Microsoft Teams and in-home tutoring where a qualified tutor travels to your address (within our travel radius). Both options deliver the same one-on-one experience as in-academy lessons, with no additional cost for online sessions.
BTA tutoring starts from $95/hr for primary students (Years 3-6) with a Tier 1 Professional Tutor, $102/hr for Years 7-10, and $115/hr for Years 11-12. Tier 2 Specialist Tutors start from $121/hr and Tier 3 Expert Tutors from $136/hr. Rates are identical across all eight BTA academies.
Yes. BTA offers package deals in 10, 20, and 50-hour blocks, with a discount applied to the total cost. The 50-hour package requires 1-hour (60-minute) lessons, so it isn't available for primary students, whose lessons are 45 minutes. Packages are available across all tutor tiers and year levels and are a popular choice for families planning regular weekly tutoring throughout the school year.
