Better Tuition Academy or Belrose Tutoring Academy (as we were formerly known) (or BTA), was established in 2015 in Sydney in a little-known suburb named Belrose.

Since then we've expanded our operations and now have established Academies situated in Belrose, Brookvale, Forestville, Gordon & Mona Vale.

Since its establishment in 2015, BTA has grown significantly, with BTA now tutoring over 650 students each week and employing over 100 tutors.
BTA has grown since its original Academy in Belrose to now include Academies in Forestville, Mona Vale, Gordon & Brookvale, along with an excellent online tuition services division. We also offer in-home services for clients that fall within our travel radius.

Where should lessons take place?

BTA Academies offer innovative spaces for students to learn and thrive. While we recommend starting lessons in-office, tutors are also available online or at your home (pending availability) at no extra cost.

What is the ideal length of lessons?
Effective tutoring requires the right lesson length:

Primary School Students (Years 3–6):
45 or 60 minute sessions for optimal focus.

High School Students (Years 7–10):
60-minute sessions to explore topics in depth.

HSC Students (Years 11–12):
60–90-minute sessions for advanced subjects and exam prep.
How often should my child have tutoring?
Consistency is key for academic success. We recommend at least weekly sessions to reinforce understanding, assist with homework, and stay on top of schoolwork. We may also recommend more frequent lessons if the student is behind or has particular academic goals.

For HSC or advanced levels, more frequent or longer sessions are ideal, though fortnightly options are also available.
Tutor Tiers in 2025
Professional Tutor
Pathway 1:
Tutors who are skilled and knowledgeable in their subject areas but do not hold formal teaching qualifications. These tutors bring subject-matter expertise and a passion for education, ensuring they can effectively support students.​
At Better Tuition Academy, these tutors undergo comprehensive training, equipping them with the pedagogical skills, lesson planning techniques, and behaviour management strategies needed to deliver high-quality tutoring. This training ensures that even without formal teaching qualifications, they meet BTA’s high standards for personalised, effective education.
Specialist Tutor or Provisional Teacher
Pathway 1: 
Tutors with at least 5 years of tutoring experience and who have taught over 2,500 one-on-one lesson hours.
Pathway 2: 
Fully accredited teachers with provisional accreditation who have experience in both classroom teaching and/or tutoring roles.
Pathway 3:
Degree Holders: Tutors with degrees in mathematics (or other relevant fields) who have demonstrated exceptional subject-matter expertise.
Expert Tutor or Proficient Teacher
Pathway 1: Expert Tutor
Tutors with at least 10 years of tutoring experience and a proven track record of teaching over 5,000 one-on-one lesson hours, demonstrating mastery in their subject and effective teaching methods.
Pathway 2: Proficient Teacher
Fully accredited teachers with Proficient Teacher accreditation, significant classroom teaching experience, and demonstrated ability to deliver effective lessons that align with curriculum standards.
Highly Accomplished Teacher
Pathway 1: Highly experienced and qualified teachers with multiple years of teaching expertise, including HSC marking or lecturing experience.
