My daughters tutor Alana has helped her a lot with not only Maths and English but also study skills, essay writing and has boosted her confidence and positive attitude to learning.

Students sitting an independent school scholarship test
Scholarship tests are set by the schools, not by the state, so the first question is which one your child is actually sitting: ACER, Edutest and AAS are different papers with different sections. Preparing for the wrong one is a term wasted.
Once that is settled, BTA tutors work through the sections that paper actually contains, with particular attention to written expression, which is the section most open to improvement. Lessons run at any of our academies, online, or at home.
For what the test itself contains, read scholarship tests in australia.
ACER, Edutest and AAS are not interchangeable. We help you confirm which one your school uses before any preparation starts, and flag the registration date families most often miss.
Of the sections in a scholarship paper, writing is the one a term of good practice reliably shifts. We work on planning fast and finishing rather than on polishing an opening paragraph.
A scholarship is not always a full fee remission, and the value varies widely by school. We would rather a family knew that before committing a year to it.

ACER, Edutest and AAS compared: how to find out which one your school uses, and what a scholarship is actually worth.
The four sections and their timings, how one sitting can cover several schools, and why abstract reasoning comes first.
Why finishing beats polishing, how to plan in words rather than paragraphs, and a weekly practice routine.

Common questions
Ask the school directly, and ask early - registration dates are the thing families most often miss. ACER, Edutest and AAS are different papers, so this is the first question rather than a detail.
No. Scholarships are competitive, awarded by the school, and not always a full fee remission. We would rather a family knew what one is actually worth at their school before committing a year to preparing for it.
Preparation is charged at our ordinary one-on-one rates, starting at $95 an hour, with no enrolment or admin fees and no lock-in contract. Every rate is on the pricing page, and packages save up to 7.5% against pay-as-you-go. The 50-hour package requires 1-hour (60-minute) lessons, so it isn't available for primary students, whose lessons are 45 minutes - their packages save up to 5%.
Yes, and at the same rate. Lessons run at any of our eight academies across Belrose, Brookvale, Forestville, Mona Vale and Gordon, online, or at home, and you can switch format from one week to the next.
The first session is an informal assessment rather than a lesson. A tutor works out where the marks are actually going, and the plan follows from that instead of from a fixed course every student is put through.
Everything else is on our frequently asked questions page.
Why we publish
Our tutors write for their own lessons: a breakdown of a set text, a maths paper pitched at one year group, the explanation that finally landed with a student on a Tuesday afternoon. Rather than leave that in a folder at one academy, we publish it.
The English half is free and has been for years. Around 15,000 students a year use those guides, most of them sitting the HSC, and you do not have to be a BTA student to open one. No account, no email address, no payment.
It is not a sideline either. These are the same pages our tutors build lessons from, which is why they are specific about a text or a module rather than general advice about how to study.
If the first tutor match isn't right and you tell us within your first three lessons, we keep tutoring free until it is.
This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
