Better Tuition Academy
Tutoring in Frenchs Forest with Better Tuition Academy At your nearest academy, online or at home.
Frenchs Forest sits about 5 to 8 minutes from BTA Belrose - the academy we opened in 2015, and still our biggest at three suites. For most families here a lesson is a short drive rather than a trip across the Northern Beaches, which is why Frenchs Forest has been part of our catchment for as long as we have existed.
We tutor Years 3 to 12 one-on-one in maths, English and HSC subjects, and prepare students for NAPLAN, the Opportunity Class test, the selective test and independent school scholarship exams.
Lessons run at the academy, online, or at your home, all at the same hourly rate with nothing added for travel. Belrose was our first academy and runs three suites, so there is usually a time that fits around sport and everything else in the week.
Years 3 - 6 Maths
One-on-one support for number and place value, fractions, multiplication, early algebra, measurement, and geometry. BTA tutors build strong foundations before high school and prepare students for NAPLAN with targeted practice in the key testing areas.
Years 7 - 10 Maths
As maths expands into algebra, trigonometry, statistics, and probability, gaps compound quickly. BTA tutors identify exactly where understanding has broken down and rebuild from there, keeping students on pace with their class and ahead of the curve for senior years.
Years 11 - 12 Maths
BTA tutors support HSC Standard Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics, Extension 1, and Extension 2.
Sessions focus on exam technique, past paper practice, and working through complex proofs, functions, and calculus.
NAPLAN: Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 · Selective: Year 6
BTA offers targeted coaching for NAPLAN maths (Years 3, 5, 7 and 9) and the Selective School Test.
Sessions focus on the specific question types and reasoning skills tested, building both accuracy and confidence under timed conditions.
Years 3 - 6 English
One-on-one support for reading comprehension, creative writing, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary. BTA tutors build strong foundational literacy skills before high school and prepare students for NAPLAN with targeted practice in reading and language conventions.
Years 7 - 10 English
As English expands into analytical essay writing, text analysis, and creative writing, many students struggle to bridge the gap between what they think and what they can express on the page.
BTA tutors help students structure arguments, analyse language techniques & write with clarity & confidence across all assessment types.
Years 11 - 12 English
BTA supports HSC Standard English, Advanced English, Extension 1, and Extension 2. Sessions cover close study of prescribed texts, essay technique, creative writing for the Common Module, and exam preparation.
BTA also has an extensive library of free HSC English study guides and resources at thebta.au/hsc-english.
Year 6 English
BTA offers targeted coaching for the Selective School Test English components, including reading comprehension, persuasive writing, and language reasoning.
Sessions build accuracy and confidence under timed conditions, with practice across the specific question types students will face on test day.

Why families choose us
The Frenchs Forest Public to Forest High pathway is one our tutors know well, and Davidson High draws students from here too. That means a tutor starts from the school's own scope and assessment calendar rather than asking a Year 8 student to explain their course.
Every family gets a Student Success Manager who tracks progress and stays in contact, and the Right Tutor Guarantee behind it. If the first tutor match isn't right and you tell us within your first three lessons, we keep tutoring free until it is. This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
However it suits you
All three cost the same hourly rate, with nothing added for travel, and families move between them as the term gets busier. There is no lock-in contract to renegotiate when they do.

BTA Belrose is inside the Belrose Village Shops on Ralston Avenue, opposite Belrose Public School. There is ample free parking in the shopping centre car park, so drop-off and pick-up are straightforward even at the busiest hour of the afternoon.
Yes, along with NAPLAN and independent school scholarship tests. Each has its own preparation page setting out what the test involves, and lessons run from Belrose, online or at home.
Why we publish
Our tutors write for their own lessons: a breakdown of a set text, a maths paper pitched at one year group, the explanation that finally landed with a student on a Tuesday afternoon. Rather than leave that in a folder at one academy, we publish it.
The English half is free and has been for years. Around 15,000 students a year use those guides, most of them sitting the HSC, and you do not have to be a BTA student to open one. No account, no email address, no payment.
It is not a sideline either. These are the same pages our tutors build lessons from, which is why they are specific about a text or a module rather than general advice about how to study.
